A whimsical silver salt shaker formed as the lucky god Fukurokuju with his characteristic extended forehead (a symbol of his intelligence). Fine detail work on the god’s robes and expression make this a unique and functional artwork. Nether side is inscribed “Arthur & Bond, Yokohama, Sterlingâ€. (The British company Arthur & Bond in Yokohama was one of the most prolific silver studios noted for the production of fine silver material during the Meiji years.)
