A gold, silver and red makie- four-case inro of rectangular form with adjustable black silk string and carnelian ojime. On a fine kinji ground, a highly detailed pheasant perches on the boughs of a flowering tree, its long tail feathers spreading beneath. Executed in silver and gold takamaki-e and kirikane, the inro exhibits delicate, naturalistic detailing, the interiors in dense nashiji. The asymmetrical imagery continues on the reverse with the flowering bough resplendent against its polished gold ground. Gilt signature of Joku sai on base. This exquisite inro is in very good condition with minor surface wear, commensurate with age and use. Length: 3.25” Meiji Period, Japan
