An Owari sukashi- style iron tsuba with a rich, dark, purplish patina to the iron, a simple yet elegant arrangement of feathered fans its main imagery. With delicate but precise incised detailing, each feather is carefully delineated, enhancing the beauty of its fan. (Folding fans often were used by samurai, especially high-ranking samurai, as concealed weapons and also to signal instructions during battle.) Overall very good condition with minor expected indication of age and usage. Diameter: 3”. Edo Period, 18th C., Japan
