An elegant and finely-made sword fitting set designed with Daikoku’s beloved companion and attributes—mice and bales of rice. The menuki are sculpt as gold bales of rice with the signature plaque of Nao Haru. The fuchi, a realistic bale of rice with a tiny shakudo mouse breaking through its surface. The kashira is nanako shakudo with two frolicking mice: one in high relief gold, the other a piebald shakudo mouse with silver-inlaid spots. (The mouse, symbol of prosperity, often appears with the god or alone with bales of rice.) This superior set is in excellent condition. 19th Century, Japan
