A brightly-colored Rose Medallion porcelain teapot with elegant spout and removable cover, its metal double handle wrapped with rope. On this pot a traditional court scene representing both the court’s interior and exterior, fanciful cartouches depict exotic birds with colorful plumage cavorting over pink and mauve flowers on the outside, within, the members of the Chinese court are garbed in Tang Dynasty attire. To accentuate the outdoor scenes, the cartouches are designed with butterflies and floral karakusa (Chinese scrollwork) on a gilt ground. This lovely porcelain teapot is in very good condition with minor surface wear to the gilt and the inside of the rim, commensurate with age and use.
