A charming boxwood netsuke sculpted as Kadori Miojin with double gourd in hand astride the notorious namazu fish, jet inlaid eyes. Miojin kneels with one leg as he tries to pacify the tremors of the “earthquake fish” - to no avail. The gourd in his hand, is symbolic of a useless endeavor. This boxwood netsuke is in excellent condition with no damage. Provenance: Ex. collection of Scott Meredith. Height: 2” 19th Century, Japan
