A graceful pair of Imari porcelain vases with slightly flared necks designed with characteristic cobalt, deep iron red and gilt detailing on white-enameled ground. Two-paneled screens frame an idyllic scene of nature with exotic, long-tail birds perched on sakura trees, blossoming peony groves below. Along the necks, medallions of ikebana arrangements cascade from hanging baskets. This vibrant and elegant pair of Imari vases is in very good condition with expected minor rubbing to the gilt, commensurate with age and use. Heights: 18” Meiji Period, Japan
