A tapered, Satsuma baluster vase, its two free-form visuals within rich chocolate borders overlaid with delicate gold and silver sprays of pine, bamboo and plum blossoms. Within the borders are dramatic, bustling scenes of medieval life with denizens from all classes of society streaming into the plaza: priests, samurai, aristocracy, tradesmen, children, artisans and others. This beautifully formed vase encompasses a busy world within the confines of its borders. Kinkozan impressed mark on base. Height, 5.5". Meiji Period. This piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
