A superior pair of Satsuma vases with slightly tapered bodies and unusual necklines. Sumptuously patterned textiles float above both vases showing joyful villagers clad in jewel-toned garments taking tea and feeding pigeons under maple and sakura trees. Children play with pigeons and a golden shishi. This pair of unusually-shaped vases is in excellent condition with no damage and no restoration. Elaborate Ryozan gilt signature and Yasuda Company mark on bases. Heights: 7.5” Meiji Period, Japan
