A pair of Imari porcelain trays of foliate form exquisitely painted in deep shades of cobalt blue and colored enamels with gilt details. The main visual depicts geese in mid-flight under the glow of a white, crescent moon. The poetic imagery is complete with a grove of chrysanthemums, their red-tinted petals conspicuous against the dark ground. Fukagawa Red Koransha marks are on reverse sides. (The Fukagawa studio was a renowned, family-run kiln operating in the late 19th century & still existent today. Creating then as now highly collectible and desirable pieces of fine quality Imari porcelain. This pair, with the red koransha mark dates late 19th c.) This pair of Imari trays is in very good condition with only some wear to the gilt commensurate with age and wear. Diameter: 8.5” 19th Century (circa 1870s), Japan
