A masterful pair of Satsuma vases of ovoid form embellished with gilt rims and brilliant multi-colored lappets along the necks. The finely painted pottery vases showcase the master’s attention to detail and exceptional use of color. A medley of seasonal flowers blossom together on a gold-sprinkled ground. Chrysanthemums, peonies, Chinese bell flowers, lilies and irises are rendered in soft blues, mauves and salmon with white moriage centers accented with gilt. Butterflies in jewel-like tones flutter above this majestic ode to nature. Both vases signed with gilt signature cartouche of Shoko Takebe and Thomas B. Blow in kanji. Excellent condition. Heights: 11.5” Meiji Period, Japan
