A pair of classically-formed cloisonné enamel vases mounted on silver rims. Groupings of koi in delicate hues of gray and salmon cavort above and below stylized waters in musen shippo (wireless enamel) on soft gray-blue grounds. The koi are naturalistically rendered both in wired and wireless techniques with the impressed “Jungin” (pure silver-950) mark on bottom rims. These magical vases are housed both in exterior owner’s boxes and in inscribed and sealed inner tomobako. With their auspicious subjects so delicately rendered, the pair represents subtle, yet superb examples of the art from the Ando Studio. Vases in excellent condition with no problems and no restoration. Heights: 9.5” Meiji Period, Japan
