Here is a fantastic studio porcelain jardinière of globular form in white and underglaze blue enamels, a mysterious scene of turbulent waves crashing into craggy mountains on its exterior. A flock of ho-o birds fly in and out of auspicious clouds over pine trees situated along the edge of rocky cliffs. This jardinière, the work of one of Japan's most revered porcelain masters, expresses the artist's close involvement with the caprices of nature.. . The underglaze blue signature cartouche of Makuzu Kozan can be found on the base. The jardinière is in excellent condition with no chips, crack or restoration. Height: 6", diameter: 9.5" Meiji Period, Japan
