A pair of iron vases of rare form with flared necks and pedestaled bases, each one worked in gold and silver to form a basket-weave pattern beneath geometric grounds. Upon the bodies, myriads of gold-wired flowers are framed within rondels of varying sizes. The ubiquitous gilt-inlaid t-fret design along the bases and the bands of grape vines in silver and gilt, are characteristic of the work of this master. Komai gilt and silver-inlaid “Kyoto ju, Komai sei” signature plaques on sides of vases. Vases are in overall excellent condition. Heights: 9”, widths: 5” Meiji Period, Japan
