A spectacular pair of sake ewers crafted in silver, with shaped handles and hinged lids. Large rondels of the Tokugawa mon are chiseled and incised on both sides of the containers, the backgrounds chased with auspicious clouds and a dynamic three-toed sea dragon. While clasping a tama, he rises over foamy turbulent waves, his body both incised and beautifully modeled. These rare sake ewers have the incised signatures of Goto Tokujo and Goto Mitsuyuki on their bases and are in very good condition with no dents or restoration. Heights: 6 ¼†19th century, Japan
