An exquisite pure silver and enamel tea set comprised of teapot, sugar bowl, creamer and tongs, the spout and handles sculpt as bamboo. Pastel-hued cloisonné enamel sakura are scattered in random upon the mirror-like silver grounds of each piece, the cloisonné finials, formed as naturalistic, moveable butterflies. Set is married to a finely chiseled silver tray with canted corners and border sculpt in high relief with chrysanthemums and peonies, the two handles overlaid with irises, all on a partly-hammered ground. Tray has impressed Jungin (“pure silver”) mark and signed Toshihide on reverse side. Bases of tea service incised with Kameyama mark (turtle within triangle). This rare set and tray are in excellent condition with no repairs and no problems. Length of tray: 19” Teapot: height, 6”; width, 8.25” Meiji Period, Japan
