Double-Gourd Studio Porcelain Vase
A superb white studio porcelain vase of double-gourd form by the Imperial Court Artist SEIFU YOHEI III(1851-1914). It is worked in underglaze blue on a white lustrous ground. Luxuriant peonies in subtle shades of blue wrap around its luscious shape, rising ho-o birds (phoenix) with long tail feathers, visible on the reverse. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. The third generation Seifu Yohei's carved signature is on the base. Tomobako. Height: 10" Circa 1900 (Meiji Period), Japan
