| Here is a superb Satsuma earthenware bowl of scalloped form. The exterior depicts a profusion of kiku executed in brilliant colors. The interior of the bowl illustrates a lively courtyard scene with young boys with drums preparing for a presentation, banners flying in the air. An actor wearing a fox mask entertains interested youngsters as he performs a Noh dance The bowl is signed on the base in his characteristic cartouche by the great Satsuma master, Nakamura Beikei. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Diameter: 5" Meiji Period, Japan | |||||||||||
