 Sold - Many thanks!
A splendid stoneware vase of ovoid form and everted lip. On its textured body, two baby cranelets rest upon a rich, tenmoko glaze, defining the scene. The baby cranes' fluffy plumage, not yet mature, is enameled in low relief, their eyes, legs and beaks detailed in gilt. This marvelous vase exemplifies the artist's genius with all ceramic materials, resulting in this instant, in an innovative fusion of stoneware and sophisticated glaze. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Makuzu Kozan impressed double gourd seal on the base, includes tomobako. Height: 9" Meiji Period, Japan
