A shakudo plate with three bracketed feet displays a wondrous scene of a songbird perched on a delicate sakura branch. The scene is marvelously worked in high relief with copper, silver and gold, the chiseled details aesthetically pleasing. The intense blue/black shakudo ground enhances the brilliance of the silver. Incised signature on the front reads: "Ipposai" and on reverse: "Kyoto Kuroda." This plate is in excellent condition with no dents or restoration and includes wood stand. Diameter: 6" Meiji Period, Japan
