| A round bronze and multi-metal box with sentoku interior and silver mounts. On its lid, in high relief on a copper-patinated ground and enclosed within a flower -shaped cartouche, a crane flies over a lotus-laden pond. Wild grasses inlaid in silver, gilt and bronze complete the visual. Draped along the exterior, lappets depict rippling of the pond in low-relief chiseling. This box is attributed to Inoue, a Meiji Period metalwork studio artist renowned for his metalurgic genius. Diameter: 4.5" Meiji Period, Japan | ||||||||
