Lacquer Inro
A three-cased, rich brown -lacquered inro with an agate ojime and matching, fan-shaped netsuke. Serving as the background for a vivid grove of white kiku and red flowers growing asymmetrically along its base, a lone butterfly hovers above. This poetic scene, executed in gold and colored takamaki-e, continues ensuite with the netsuke - carved flowers and leaves in gold and colored lacquers. The signature of the artist, Chohei, is in gold lacquer on the base. This lovely inro is in good condition with minimum wear. 19th Century, Japan
