| This lovely ikebana basket with unusual narrow waist and flared neck is woven with an overall design. On four pod feet and topped with an arched double reed handle with symmetrical insect stitching, its lightly -colored bamboo slats worked in a swirling design connote moving water, the effect resulting from tight plaiting left to right. This fine basket by an unknown artist is in very good condition, two barely discernible breaks (see pictures), due to age. Height: 18" Taisho/Showa Period, Japan | |||||||||
