Here is a beautiful Satsuma bowl done in the Kyoto-Satsuma style, its
exterior designed with three continuous bands arranged vertically.
Framed by geometric borders, each band contains meticulously painted
scenes - koi swimming in shallow waters,a profusion of colorful kiku
and a brilliant arrangement of implements for tea, ink painting
utensils, ikebana and fruit baskets. The bowl's interior is
luxuriously designed with gilt, floral and geometric brocading, its
central rondel a genre scene of villagers drinking tea under a
pavilion and a street vendor surrounded by eager young boys and their
mothers. Ryukozan gilt signature on the base.
This bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
