An exquisite Satsuma bowl of shallow, circular form. A lively
arrangement of fan-shaped cartouches decorate the exterior with
sumptuous textile patterns and lush floral scenes in gosu, iron red
enamel and gilt. Inside, a generous display of gilt work details a
delicate, brocaded necklace in rich jewel tones. In the central
animated sea dragon, brilliantly enameled in deep gosu blue and vibrant
gilt surges in and out of turbulent waves. The three-toed dragon is
powerfully executed, each scale well-defined and its fierce face rendered
in great detail.
This Satsuma shallow bowl is in excellent condition with no imperfections.
The piece bears the Satsuma province mon in gosu and gilt with the Tanshu
