Une Histoire Tres Drole. Mongols (A Very Funny Story. Mongols) This intriguing woodblock print depicts a man clad in richly colored robes kneeling by the side of his friend. The figures are positioned against a grey and silver mica screen with a silhouette outside of a Chinese-styled building. The noted artist, Paul Jacoulet, portrayed the figures in rich patterned fabrics and fur, all in bold colors. The scene is all the more interesting as the kneeling man furtively holds a hand to his mouth, whispering an amusing tale into the ear of his friend. Documented in the Richard Miles catalog "The Prints of Paul Jacoulet", #105, page 112-113 and color plate 105, page 31. This woodblock print is in excellent condition, acid-free and in a collector's custom wood frame fabricated with an intricate design of gold -leaf.
