|Here is a wonderful Hirado porcelain study of a Buddhist temple tiger. Seated with head turned upwards, the tiger wears a fierce expression with large, chiseled eyes and its mouth slightly open to reveal two sharp fangs. The stripes along the tiger's muscular body are strongly modeled emphasizing his potency - from its head to its coiled tail. This is a delightful okimono of a highly regarded beast, one of the 12 animals of the zodiac. This okimono is in very good condition with no problems. Length: 7.5" 19th Century, Japan|
