An elegant dark-bronze vase of flared form modeled with scalloped rim,
foliate base and brilliantly reticulated band of kiku and foliage around its
center. A beautifully sculpt dragon mounted to this band clasps a glass tama
in its talons. Worked in high relief with meticulously carved details, the
is joined by raised, turbulent waves rendered close by the tail. (The tama
is the tide-controlling
jewel of the sea). This bronze okimono is in excellent condition with no
or problems. A large signature plaque of the Meiji metalworker, Toto
appears on the base.
