| Here is a wonderfully executed ikebana basket on a square base, its intricately wrapped handle attached to a wide openwork gallery. The body is woven with fine strands of bamboo utilizing various plaiting techniques, its form reminiscent of usubata bronzes. The finely lacquered strands of bamboo are woven with twill plaiting and 1000 line construction with twining detailing and insect stitching. The incised signature, Rikken Zo, on the base. This ikebana basket is in very good condition. Height: 12.5" Circa 1937 (Early Showa Period), Japan | |||||||||
