| A lovely Aritaware porcelain okimono of a recumbent goose naturalistically sculpted, its long white neck dramatically turned to preen its feathers. (The goose, among other of nature's delightful creatures, is found frequently in all manner of Japanese art - screens & paintings, cloisonne, ceramics, carvings, etc.) This particular sculpture is an excellent example of the artform, with the water fowl, carefully modeled, engaged in its everyday activities. The Toko saku incised signature is on the base. This okimono is in very good condition with no imperfections, restoration, etc. Length: 9" Meiji Period, Japan | |||||||
