This is a lovely and rare Imari porcelain coffee pot, its handle sculpted as leaves, and the elegant spout designed with stylized scrollwork in overglaze iron red. On its domed lid, butterflies and grasses are executed in various shades of iron red with gilt details, the band about the neck a similar color palette depicting ho-o birds and floral cartouches. Main image is a continuous scene illustrating an idyllic landscape with two peacocks on a rugged cliff surrounded by oversized peony and plum blossom. The delicately-colored palette-pink, greens, orange and
blue in moriage, contributes to the appetising and inviting appeal of
this porcelain pot. This coffee pot is in very good condition with slight wear to
the gilt, commensurate with age and use.
