A pair of gold-lacquer, covered incense boxes of mokko-form with inner containers and trays on footed, roiro and gold-lacquer stands. All are decorated with exquisite landscapes utilizing multiple lacquer techniques depicting huts and pavilions beside rolling waters, takamaki-e rockwork and pine, interiors and undersides executed in nashiji (densely sprinkled gold, simulating "pear-skin"). Some previous restoration, barely discernible, with overall good condition. Height: 5", width: 5" Edo Period (19th Century), Japan
