 Sold - Many thanks!
A finely modeled Hirado porcelain okimono of two energetic, playful shishi with penetrating bisque eyes. The characteristic plasticity of the Hirado clay enabled the anonymous sculptor to achieve the dynamism of the creatures’ musculature and curling tails, contributing to the vast inventory of mythical and realistic animals found so often in Hirado works. This Hirado porcelain okimono is in very good condition with minor wear to the base. Height, 7.5"; length, 10" 19th century, Japan
