A small ruby- enameled basse taille cloisonne vase of bottle-form with silver mounts. A dynamic dragon is carved along the neck and shoulders, writhing in and out of stylized clouds, all on a brilliantly textured ground. On the base of this breath taking gem of a vase is the signature of the noted enamellist, Hayakawa Komejiro. (For a similar piece, see featured vase in "Japanese Cloisonne" by Lawrence Coben & Dorothy Ferster, 1990, p.100, plate 106.) This jewel-like cloisonné vase is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. Height: 4" Meiji Period, Japan
