| Blue & White bowl, with rounded sides and decorated outside in underglaze cobalt blue of Eight Buddhist Emblems. These are, the Wheel, Conch Shell, Parasol, Canopy, Fish, Flower, Jar and Endless knot. Lotus panels surrounded on the foot and wave pattern around the mouth rim. Inside decoration at the center with Conch Shell and lotus with water weed rising to the cavetto. Ming dynasty, Chenghua private kiln ware. Comparable for similar pattern design showing in the last enlargement is imperial porcelain of the Chenghua reign excavated from Zhushan, Jindezhen, illustrated on the book "A Legacy of Chenghua" page 90, item A1, the book also mention; for a similar censer in underglaze blue is noted as having been excavated from the dated tomb in Qingjiang, Jiangxi province. It exhibits an inscribed date of the twelfth year of the Chenghua era (1476) and is believed to have been made at a private kiln. Since the form and decoration of that example and this officials ware one are quite similar, it is therefore likely that private kilns were already producing imitations of these imperial ware by the late Chenghua years. Note: please compare enlargement 2 and 12. Condition of this bowl is very good, except restored with coloured to one fine hairline, no chips and no other cracks.
