A Rare Annamese Kendi With Pair Of Lions
A rare b/w Kendi of squat globular form, with a short cylindrical neck and a broad horizontal flange, small lipped mouth and a tapering mammiform spout. Decorated in underglazed cobalt-blue with lotus petals filled with classic scroll on the shoulder, and a pair of lion among clouds scroll on the body and spout, with a band of lotus petals beneath. The center of the neck with encircled of diaper pattern, brown wash base. Annamese ware 15th-16th century in perfect condition excepted minor tiny chips to the foot rim. High: 17 cm and wide maximum: 21cm.
