| Exquisite extremely fine hand carved antique ivory Chinese Brise Fan. A rare example directly from an advanced privately owned collection. The ivory sticks are so delicate one is almost afraid to handle them. How someone managed to carve into them in such a fine lace like pattern I truly wonder, most definately a completely lost art. The carved figural scene pattern with boats and pagodas flows correctly from stick to stick. The end guard sticks are Chinese Filigree Silver, inlaid in enamels. This fan is in totally original untouched condition, even the cotton like threads at the top are original and well preserved. Only normal amount of tiny back grounds thread like fret bars missing in places. Some of the cloisonne like enamel infils are missing on the silver guard sticks. The silver guard stick to the reverse has the filigree and enamel works missing half way down (see photograph). SIZE:- 11.1/4 inches total height. Sticks are 10 inches high. Fan is 17 inches widest when open. CITES documentation can be obtained if required. | ||
