SARAH CHAMBERLAIN BROADSIDE "LEWIS CARROLL'S CROCODILE"
$250.00

A WOOD ENGRAVED BROADSIDE BY SARAH CHAMBERLAIN for LEWIS CARROLL'S - "HOW DOTH THE LITTLE CROCODILE" from "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland". Portland, Oregon: The Chamberlain Press, no date (circa 1981). The broadside measures 14 inches by 16 inches (including margins). A LIMITED EDITION OF 50 PRINTS - this one is #50/50 and is signed and numbered, in pencil, by Sarah Chamberlain. Also signed in the print with the artist's initials. MINT CONDITION. Please see enlargement for details. Carroll's "Crocodile" is a brilliant parody of Isaac Watts' poem "Against Idleness and Mischief" which begins - "How doth the little busy bee/Improve each shining hour". Chamberlain has incorporated Carroll's poem neatly with her depiction of the grinning Crocodile welcoming the "little fishes in".
