| A RARE NORWEGIAN LOVE TOKEN. Made from a silver coin minted during the period of Norway's King Oscar II's reign (1872-1905). The token is beautifully engraved with flourishes and foliate design around the initials N P. The reverse is the original coin engraved with the motto: BRODERF(ol)KENES VEL (The Good of the Brother Peoples) and has the Crowned Arms of OSCAR II of Norway. The token measures 5/8 inches in diameter. LOVE TOKENS became fashionable mostly during the period of 1870 to 1900. They were given to loved ones as a symbol of love and affection and were often hand-made by the giver. It's particularly nice to find one from Norway! | |||||
