|A RARE VICTORIAN 18K GOLD WEDDING BRACELET WITH HORSESHOE CHARM. Stamped 18k inside the clasp. The bracelet has an inner measurement of 8 inches. A wonderfully fashioned openwork bracelet of intricate design. The bracelet's design features a continuous band of diamond shaped sections each connected by a flower. In the center of each section is a star surrounded by scrollwork. The clasp is a solid section with scalloped edges and with engraved initials C K. Suspended from the clasp is a large CHARM formed as a horseshoe symbolising good fortune. The horseshoe has a textured and polished finish and features a repeat design of the floral motif used in the bracelet. The charm itself measures 1 inch in length by 3/4 inch across. The bracelet is 8 inches with a width of 3/4 inches. The bracelet has an unusual clasp mechanism which opens by means of pin which can be pulled up to open (please see enlargement 8 which shows the open clasp). The top of the pin has two rings which would have had a safety chain attached at one time but which are no longer present. The bracelet weighs 22.80 grams(18K). Wedding bracelets in Victorian times were presented by the groom-to-be (often in pairs) as an engagement present. This particular example is extremely rare as it features a CHARM making it very desirable, indeed! A wonderful item for a serious collector.|
