A charming pair of vases designed as nurseryware. Early 20th century. There is no maker's mark, only an impressed number "3059" at the base of one of the vases. These could be of either American or European manufacture. Each vase is of flattened oval shape with scroll decoration at the top and has five indented vertical slats at the top filled with a green glaze. Also, each is decorated on one side with a green oval - one centered with a figure of a little girl in blue, carrying an umbrella - the other with the figure of a little girl carrying a doll. One of the vases has two factory flaws - namely a small underglaze chip to the rim and another underglaze chip to the foot. (These are both visible on the photo of the girl with the umbrella). A most attractive and charming pair of vases. Each measures 5 1/4 inches in height by 3 3/4 inches in width.
