A beautiful luncheon or dessert plate by Mintons, circa 1910. Marked with Minton's backstamp and the retailer's mark of Davis Collamore & Co. Ltd., New York. Decorated in a pattern identical to one used by President and Mrs. William Howard Taft during their stay at the White House (1909-1913). Although not an official White House order this pattern is still considered as an example of White House china (see Klamkin: "White House China" color plate 25). The plate is decorated with a raised turquoise blue ribbon border separated by 5 groups of pink roses. Gilt trim. In excellent condition with no chips, hairlines, or cracks. Measures 8 3/4 inches in diameter.
