| A fine RUSSIAN SILVER ICON of SAINT GEORGE & THE DRAGON. Moscow, 1890. Stamped: A.C (within a rectangle); A (pellet) W (over)1890 (within a rectangle); (silver mark)84 (within a rectangle; Moscow mark of St George (see enlargements 6 & 7). The icon measures 3 3/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches by 3/8 inches. The icon depicts St. George slaying the dragon. His hand-painted likeness is beneath a silver plaque skillfully executed in repousse. St. George is astride his horse in a very finely detailed scene. Please see enlargements. Backed in yellow velvet (lightly soiled). In excellent condition. | ||||||||||||
