A 1920's ENAMEL BROOCH featuring Germany's double-headed eagle and COLOGNE'S COAT OF ARMS. The circular pin measures 3/4" in diameter. Hinged straight pin on the back with a C clasp. The brooch has a detailed depiction of Germany's double-headed eagle in black enamel accented in gilt and red. In the center, on a shield, is Cologne's COAT OF ARMS. The three crowns symbolize the MAGI (3 Wise Men) whose bones are said to be kept in a golden sarcophagus in Cologne Cathedral. The eleven "tears" are a reminder of Cologne's Patron SAINT URSULA.
