A SCARCE CHRISTMAS CARD ISSUED BY THE E.P.DUTTON CO., 1925. Measures 12 1/2 inches by 8 inches (folded). "VESPERS" by A.A.MILNE. With printed greetings "MERRY CHRISTMAS" on the front, in red. Milne's poem "Vespers" was first published in VANITY FAIR (N.Y.), Vol. 19, No. 5, January, 1923 and later appeared in the first of his four famous "Pooh" books - "When We Were Very Young". It is presented here in calligraphed text with a delightful border of wooden soldiers, Christmas trees, teddy bears, etc. At the top is a small boy kneeling at pray. The poem, of course, was written about his own son CHRISTOPHER ROBIN. There is loss to the lower right corners but overall a very good copy of this fragile and ephemeral item.
