Bound in full green Niger morocco. Tooled in gilt with four strapwork designs wrapping around both covers. Spine in five compartments and lettered in gilt and two gilt decorations. Decorated endpapers. All edges have been beautifully decorated with a blue spatter background sprinkled with gilt stars and dots. A most beautiful and artistic binding worthy of an edition of some importance. In the preface, Charles Scribner,IV relates the publishing firm's history of this classic story by Grahame and how Shepard was approached to submit six brand new drawings to accompany his original ones which were now reset along with the text.
