The artist's self portrait depicts her holding her pet monkey "JASPA" on her left shoulder. His tail curls around her right shoulder. Jaspa was Lathrop's model for a number of her children's books. A strong and highly detailed composition. Unsigned. From the artist's estate. Lathrop engraved this self portrait for her admission into the National Academy of Design, 1949. Ref.
