A superb Bahia hollow figure from Ecuador - La Plata Hueco Type. Depicts a standing female with hands held to her mid-section. She is wearing a long skirt decorated with incised and painted designs. Adorned with a red ocher necklace and matching ear ornaments. Overall in excellent condition, with good paint, strong calcification, root marks and good high tone on the whistle. Manabi region, Ecuador. 500BC/500AD. This exceptional polychrome example is 9.5" tall.

Nice example of a Bahia de Caraquez - La Plata type seated shaman. Evidence of cranial deformation in practice. Legs crossed and hands are held to his knees as in a spiritual state. Hint of post fired pigments are visible. Head garment, ear plugs and nose ring are intact and in overall nice condition. Manabi region, Ecuador. 500BC/500AD. Measures just under 7" in height. 17.5 cm. Includes TL test.
