Elegant small Bhudevi statue. Bhudevi (Mother Earth) represents fertility. She is one of the two forms of Laksmi and one of the two consorts of Vishnu. She wears a conical mukuta and a hallow or srichakra on the back of her head, indicating her divinity. She stands in the tribhanga posture with a blue lotus in her right hand. Her left arm is in the lolahasta mudra (the tail of a cow). In very good condition. Beautiful dark patina. Height 12.5 cm. India, 16/17th. century.

The Tirthankara Parsvanatha sits in meditation on a lion throne, protected by the seven headed snake Dharenendra and flanked by two standing and two sitting Jinas. Together they represent the 5 Jina image or pancatirthi. The two figures on the side of the lion throne represent Padmavari (the female) and Samvara. Engraved text on the back of the statue.
