Tibetan black ground thangka of the dharmapala Begtse

An intriguing black ground tangka (nakthang). Distemper and gold on cloth with a brocade mounting. The wrathful or protective deity (dharmapala) Begtse. He holds a sword in his right hand and a heart (from an enemy of Buddhism) in his left hand. He stands in alidhasana and is trampling a horse with his right and a human body with his left foot. Begtse is an important guardian of the Geluk order. In good condition. Tibet. Size:107cm. x 67cm. The image itself:60 x 50 cm.
